Devin Kelly, a reporter for the Alaska Dispatch News, came into our class this Tuesday and talked about how she decided to become a writer in 2nd grade and shared a book that she published when she was 7 in a very similar fashion to our student's work. She also talked about being a professional writer, and demonstrated how to ask open and closed question while conducting an interview. Elders and Youngers interviewed each other and were so excited about Devin that they mobbed her with a hug!
Brennan and his mom taught the class how to make delicious pumpkin soup and each student got to take home their own mason jar for a snack! If you don't have a need for the jar a parent reminded us that we are collecting extra jars for our Winter Crafts coming up in December and you can leave clean jars outside of our room in the cardboard box.
Happy birthday to Blake and Torsten and thank you for the delicious snacks you shared with the class! Happy early Birthday to Alexis Carlson on Sunday as well!
Hooray to our Lexia and Xtra math achievers this last week! We are so proud of the dedication in our class to literacy and learning.
