We hope that Spring Break was refreshing! We are starting to see the light :)
We had a busy week back, and have so much to be proud and thankful for!
Last week Meara Bowling shared about her trip to Costa Rica. Breslyn Gonzalez introduced us to Mexican traditions and artifacts, and her grandfather brought in a sweet Mexican treat for the class. April Christianson's family is from Norway, and showed us videos and images her hundreds of years old family farm in a small Norwegian town, and brought in hand-made Norwegian Lefse (potato flatbread)! Finally, Cori Carlson talked about their family's Swedish heritage, and shared artifacts from Sweden and some tasty Swedish cookies. We are learning so much!
On Wednesday Children's Lunchbox collaborated with BOOP to help our students gain perspective on hunger in our community. Each student, with the help of their 5/6 Book Buddy, got to pack 2 lunches for a child in Anchorage who may not have 3 meals a day. They even wrote notes for the kids to find and packed them with the lunch! We were impressed by the conversations they had and their compassion for other kids.
We had two Family Shares last week! Taegan shared about her family and family vacations. Fun Fact: Taegan's family raises bees!
Caitlin shared about her dog Gracie.
Fun Fact: Gracie gets jealous when Caitlin pets other dogs!
