We love dogs,
and we hope, so do you,
walk with us and
bring your canines too!
Saturday, October 1st, from 11:00am-Noon (ish)
at University Lake Dog Park
(Main Lot, the open area)
Rosalind and I will be taking our pups for a walk and would love to see our 1/2 Family Group and meet your furry friends! We want to get outside before the snow and have some fun with this great active group :) See you then, rain or shine, dog or no.
Unfortunately we had a bit of an issue in our classroom on Friday when the class had indoor recess due to unexpected rain. Upon returning to the classroom we found what looked like a tornado had struck (see one image below). We did hear both sides of the story- the noon duties were new to the job and did not give them much time to clean up. There were many students attempting to clean the room, but the mess was so widespread that it was impossible. We discussed the expectations for indoor recess, our classroom, and the responsibilities they hold as students. Students also individually took responsibility for their part in the incident and the whole class took part in the "reparation" of cleaning up the room during what would've been their choice time. We then followed the clean up with a lesson on the constitution in honor of Constitution Day and made our own classroom constitution, which the students will be signing, promising to be responsible and respectful citizens in the family group. If you have time to reinforce this message at home, please have a conversation with your child about what happened, and feel free to expand it to responsibilities in school, at home and the community. All in all, while not a pleasant surprise, the experience yielded an opportunity for learning and discussion that we hope was valuable for all.
On a cheerful note, we had our first Family Share with the fabulous Evie Thompson on Friday as well! She shared about a family summer vacation to Costa Rica and her mom April and dad Mike were there. Her presentation included a video of a gecko, lots of fabulous animals and cute photos. Thanks for sharing your experience and family with us Evie!
Below you will find the scanned sign ups for Family Share, Cooking and other volunteer opportunities. Please comment below if you are interested in any slots, specifying the job and date! Unfortunately we were unable to make this show up without you downloading it. Hope you had a fabulous weekend!
