We had a blast dressing up this week for retro week, and were so proud of all the school spirit everyone showed! We had a wonderful week filled with lots of snow, some rain, and classroom activities.
Mini-Courses are next Thursday and Friday, please don't forget to pack sack lunches, and snacks for your kiddos! Remember that some students will not be at Bowman during different parts of the day.
Also, we applied for a grant through Donor's Choose that we were hoping to get funded this fall. It did not get picked as a featured grant, but we thought we'd let you know about it. Tax season is coming up and you can always have the BOOP treasurer write you a receipt for a tax write-off, and we believe the website will also do this for you (thanks to Allison Raye for bringing that idea up!). The grant was for additional math, phonics and stem games to have in our classroom for choice time and our literacy and math workplaces. The STEM games in particular are great for kids who love engineering. We have until February 8th to fund the full grant! You can check out our page and all the details here:
Finally, the neighborhood program has invited us to their Skate and Play party! This will be held at our school ice rink, on Friday February 10th from 6:30-8:00. Skates, sleds and hot chocolate will be provided. We hope to see you then!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Great Family Share Silas! We loved learning about Hydraulic Power and your cool engineering toy.
Enjoying ALL THE SNOW!!!
Happy birthday Tyler!
The Mystery Reader this week was Rosalind's Dad, Mark Worcester! He read his favorite book from when he was a kid (the original copy) and one of Roz's favorites, "Mr. Bear Stomp You All Flat".
We had a great (short) second week back in the classroom! It was extra-jam-packed due to only having a couple of days but we had a great time finishing up our Kandinsky-inspired art pieces, as you can see from the photos below. We also were able to incorporate all of the new centers we practiced last week into our Reading Workplaces including Work on Writing, Word Work and Reader's Theater. Keep your eyes posted for the 5 spelling words that we sent home for students to practice, they should've brought them home on Tuesday. They will be assessed on these words on Monday to make sure they have practiced/learned the new phonics patterns. We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Working hard on our Kandinsky paintings!
What a wonderful week back! We were grateful of so many 'happy-to-be-back-smiles' and sweet hugs. A big shout out to Jocelyn Riley, and Kim Connaker for braving cooking this week! The kids LOVED the healthy banana pudding. We had so many kids working hard over break on Lexia and Xtramath, look at all our level passers! Keep working hard, and stay warm this weekend.
Enjoy the LONG weekend, see you Tuesday!
